Six Emory & Henry Student-Athletes Named To 2015-16 VaSID Academic All-State Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. ? Six student-athletes from Emory & Henry College have been named to the 2015-16 VaSID Academic All-State Team, VaSID officials announced Friday. VaSID is the professional organization of the Virginia Sports Information Directors. This year, the team honors 234 student-athletes from 41 institutions for their academic performance during the 2015-16 academic year.

E&H?s selections were senior Kevin Anzenberger (Concord, N.C.) of men?s basketball, senior Anna Green (Raleigh, N.C.) of women?s basketball, senior women?s soccer player Willow Hubbard (Asheville, N.C.), junior Victoria Lustig (Galisteo, N.M.) of the Intermont Equestrian teams, women?s swimming junior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.) and junior Riley Pudney (Beech Mountain, N.C.) of softball.

"These six student-athletes have set themselves apart with their commitment to excellence both athletically and in the classroom," said Joe Matthews, E&H?s Director of Sports Information. "I am proud to be a member of an organization like VaSID which is devoted to recognizing the hard work and dedication of student-athletes across the Commonwealth. It is fitting as members of the higher education community to also honor our student-athletes for their academic success in addition to their athletic accomplishments.?

Each school is given six spots on the team for deserving student-athletes. Team members must be at least a sophomore and carry a minimum 3.25 grade point average to receive the honor. All four-year colleges in Virginia are eligible to be included.

The VaSID All-State teams are selected by sports information directors of member institutions of the Virginia Sports Information Directors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaSID, founded in 1983, selects Academic All-State teams across all sports in addition to All-State teams in two divisions (University and College) for 13 sports and three single-division teams.
