EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Baseball Team, led by Head Coach Trey McCall has released its scheduled for the 2017 season. This year, the Wasps will play 40 regular season games, 16 of which will take place at Porterfield-DeVault Field on the E&H campus.
Emory & Henry will begin the year for the second time in three seasons with a three-game series at Covenant College. The Wasps will take on the Scots on Friday, February 10 in a single game at 2:00 p.m., before completing the series with a pair of seven-inning games on Saturday, February 11 at noon.
A three-game set at Berry College the weekend of Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19 is next up before Emory & Henry plays its first three home games of the year. E&H will host Johnson (Tenn.) University on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 with Saturday's double-header coming as a pair of seven-inning contests.
A trip to Maryville (Tenn.) College on Wednesday, March 1 opens midweek play for the Wasps and ushers in the final non-conference weekend of the year where Emory & Henry will welcome Alfred State College from Upstate New York on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5.
After traveling to take on Ferrum College on Wednesday, March 8, the Wasps will open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 11 when it visits Randolph-Macon College for a doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets.
E&H is set to play four games over Spring Break at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Wasps are set to play a pair of seven-inning doubleheaders on Tuesday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 15 against teams yet to be determined.
Emory & Henry's first home conference games will be on Saturday, March 25 as it faces Eastern Mennonite University at noon. The Wasps will also host ODAC doubleheaders against Lynchburg College (Sat., April 1) and Washington and Lee University (Sat., April 29).
Additionally, E&H's away conference doubleheaders will be at Shenandoah University (Sat., April 8), Bridgewater College (Fri., April 14) and Virginia Wesleyan College (Sat., April 22). The Wasps will, as always, play split-site series against Guilford College and Roanoke College with home games on Wednesday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 19, respectively.
The 2017 ODAC Tournament is set for the weekend of Thursday, May 4 through Sunday, May 7 at City Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia. The top six teams from the regular season will qualify for the tournament.
