GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team has seen one of its players named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Team, CoSIDA officials announced Thursday. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Junior outfielder Erin Anderson (Aylett, Va.) was selected to the NCAA Division III District V Team and is now eligible for Academic All-America® honors. She is the first Wasp to be recognized by CoSIDA since 2013 when then-senior Ashley Ebersole was tabbed as Academic All-District.
Anderson, a graduate of King William High School, led E&H to a 31-14 record, its third-most wins in school history, and a berth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the second year in a row. She was named to the All-ODAC First Team, the ODAC All-Tournament team and the ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Anderson is the only ODAC player to receive Academic All-District® accolades this season.
Anderson led the team in batting average .395 from her spot at the top of the lineup. She led the squad in base hits (51) and stole a team-best 16 bases, and laid down five sacrifice bunts. She also tallied 28 runs, 10 doubles and 17 RBI with a .447 on-base percentage and a .519 slugging average.
CoSIDA's Academic All-America® program has recognized student-athletes for their combined accomplishments on the field and in the classroom since 1952. CoSIDA members nominate and vote for the selection of Academic All-District and All-America performers in 12 sport categories across all divisions of college athletics.
