HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Misericordia University Women's Tennis Team won, 8-1, over Emory & Henry College (4-6) Friday morning at Carolina Place. The Wasps complete their Spring Break trip to Hilton Head with a 1-2 record.
The Cougars got out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles portion of the match and never looked back. They took wins in the first five singles flights to seal the 8-1 victory.
E&H sophomore Kelly Mae Kerlin (Franklin, Tenn.) picked up the lone win at number six singles for the Wasps (6-4, 6-4). Sophomore Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) went three sets with her opponent, and came up just short in the super-tiebreak, 12-10.
Emory & Henry will return home on Monday when both the women's and men's teams will be in action against Bluefield College. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
