ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry University senior pitcher Jacob Nester (Hillsville, Va.) has been tabbed as the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

It is the first time that a Wasp baseball player has earned conference player of the week honors since Jeremie Greene, Jr. was named SAC Baseball Player of the Week during the 2022-23 season. 

The Hillsville, Virginia native led Emory & Henry to a 3-0 shutout South Atlantic Conference road win over Newberry College Friday afternoon. Nester threw a complete game shutout, surrendering seven hits while striking out seven Wolves. The win moves Nester to a perfect 3-0 on the season. 

Emory & Henry is currently 5-10 on the year with a 3-6 mark in SAC play. The Wasps open up their home slate this weekend with a three-game series against Tusculum University.
