GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Baseball Team has received a team academic honor from the American Baseball Coaches Association, ABCA officials announced this week. This year the Team Academic Excellence Award is being presented by Sports Attack.

Emory & Henry is one of six schools from the South Atlantic Conference and 91 NCAA Division II programs to receive the honor. It is the fourth consecutive year and seventh time in the past eight years that the Wasps have earned the honor. 

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award is given to teams which post a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the academic year. This year, nearly 500 programs from all levels of college baseball (NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and Junior College) were recognized for their academic success.

The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA's awards program includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
