BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry University IHSA Team saw four of its eight competing riders earn spots in the Zone 4 Championship on Sunday at the Zone 4-Region 5 Finals.

The Results
- Freshman Nada Soueidan (Williamsburg, Va.) won the region championship in Open Equitation Over Fences aboard Kato, as well as Open Flat, riding Grace.
- Junior Olivia Del Pinal (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) finished the reserve region champion in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, aboard Lottie.
- In Limit Overfences competition, senior Isabella Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished reserve regional champion, riding Scout. Junior Grace Simpson (Culpeper, Va.) took third place on Charlie. - In Limit Flat, Oglesby rode Imani to a fifth-place finish, while senior Leah VandenBerg (Camillus, N.Y.) finished seventh aboard Castino.
- Novice Flat saw junior Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.) ride Henri to a seventh-place finish, and junior Cetari White-Anderson (Clatskanie, Ore.) had a lovely ride on Seal.
- Finishing out the day, sophomore Elana Trejo (Rustburg, Va.) secured the region championship in Introductory Flat.
Advancing to Zones
- Emory & Henry ended the regular season as Zone 4-Region 5 Champions and will be competing as a team at the Zone 4 Championship for a spot at the IHSA National Championship.
- Souiedan will be the Z4-R5 rider for the Cacchione Cup, aiming to earn a spot at nationals and a shot at being the High-Point Hunt Seat rider. She will also be competing in Open Fences and Flat. Del Pinal will be moving onto zones in Intermediate Flat, and Oglesby will be competing in Limit Overfences. Trejo will also be attending to compete in Introductory flat.
Special Shoutout
- Emory & Henry's own Kinder Scout was named the Zone 4, Region 5 Horse of the Year. Scout is well-loved by all who ride him, and we are proud to have him in our barn.

- Intermont Equestrian will compete at the Zone 4 Championships on Saturday, April 4, hosted by Goucher College.
