EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Lacrosse Team (1-5) dropped a non-conference matchup with visiting Barton College (4-5) inside the Food City Sports Complex Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs scored nine goals in the first half and eight more in the second to take the win by a 17-3 final.

How It Happened
- The Bulldogs struck first just 11 seconds into the contest to make it 1-0, but the Wasps had a response. Freshman attack Gavin Starling (McKinney, Texas) took a pass from fellow freshman Jackson Jones (Salem, Va.) and beat the BC goalie to even the score at 1-1. The visitors would tally three more unanswered goals to run their advantage to 4-1 through one quarter of play. E&H was first on the scoreboard in the second frame when Starling dished to junior attack Jacob Mills (Culpeper, Va.) who slotted home a shot to close the gap to 4-2. The Bulldogs would score the final five goals of the half to take a 9-2 lead into the halftime break.
- Emory & Henry was first to score for the second time in as many quarters when Starling tallied his second goal of the contest at the 9:27 mark to make it 9-3. That was as close as the Wasps would get however, as Barton put up six in the third and two more in the fourth for the 17-3 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Starling paced the Wasps with two goals, one assist and a ground ball. Mills had a goal and a ground ball while Jones had an assist and collected one ground ball.
- Sophomore midfielder Caleb Mims (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished with five ground balls and a caused turnover while sophomore defender Isaiah Ward (Fredericksburg, Va.) added four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Freshman defender Brayden Hall (Salem, Va.) recorded two ground balls and forced two turnovers.
- Freshman goalie AJ Cakir (McKinney, Texas) made 10 saves in goal while sophomore goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) had 10 saves and collected a pair of ground balls in relief.
Barton Individual Leaders
- Zander Grimes went for a hat trick of three goals while Jett Carbone, Marvin Johnson, Tim Blanch and Drew Paxon all finished with a pair of scores.
- Luke Woollard, Maddax Van Vliet, Jordan Bench and Christian Alabaster combined for nine saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
