EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Lacrosse Team (1-8, 0-4 SAC) came up on the short end of its South Atlantic Conference showdown with No. 3 nationally-ranked Wingate University (8-2, 6-0 SAC) Saturday. The Bulldogs earned the win by a 22-3 margin.

How It Happened
- The Bulldogs ran out to an early advantage, scoring 11 goals in the first and five more in the second quarter for a 16-0 halftime lead.
- The Wasps were first on the board in the second half when freshman attack Gavin Starling (McKinney, Texas) dished to sophomore midfielder Caleb Mims (Kingsport, Tenn.), who beat the Wingate goalie to make it 16-1. Wingate would put up the final three goals of the quarter for a 19-1 margin. WU put up the first two goals of the fourth, but E&H got back on the board with 6:00 on the clock. Freshman attack Dany Nguyen (Forest, Va.) tallied an unassisted score and sophomore midfielder David Mewes (Greenville, S.C.) followed suit one minute later with an unassisted tally of his own to cut the deficit to 21-3. The Bulldogs rounded out the scoring with one final goal to send the score to its final at 22-3.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Mims, Mewes and Nguyen all finished with one goal each. Sophomore defender Isaiah Ward (Petersburg, Va.) and freshman defender Brayden Hall (Salem, Va.) registered three ground balls and a caused turnover each.
- Sophomore goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) collected five saves while freshman goalie AJ Cakir (McKinney, Texas) had seven saves in relief.
Wingate Individual Leaders
- Wingate saw 18 different players record at least one goal.
- Quad Williams, Matt Jannotte and Jack Altman combined for 10 saves to pick up the win for the No. 3 Bulldogs.
