No. T-6 Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Emory & Henry In SAC Matchup

HICKORY, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Lacrosse Team (1-10, 0-6 SAC) was defeated in South Atlantic Conference play by No. T-6 nationally-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University (8-3, 5-2 SAC) Saturday afternoon. The Bears 27 first-half goals as they rolled to a 30-2 victory.

How It Happened
- The Bears scored early and often in the first quarter as they tallied 16 unanswered goals in the first quarter. Emory & Henry got on the board at the 13:55 mark of the second quarter when freshman attack Gavin Starling (McKinney, Texas) scored unassisted to make it 16-1. LR would record the next four goals to increase the lead out to 20-1, but the Wasps scored another as sophomore defender Everett Grube (Saint Inigoes, Md.) dished to junior attack Jacob Mills (Culpeper, Va.), who beat the goalie for the second E&H goal of the contest. It was all Bears from there as Lenoir-Rhyne would tally the final 10 goals of the game for the 30-2 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Mills and Starling finished with a goal each while Grube had the assist. Sophomore defender Noah Parrish (Manassas, Va.) had the Wasps' lone caused turnover.
- Sophomore goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) made six saves and collected two of the three E&H ground balls in the contest. Freshman AJ Cakir (McKinney, Texas) registered three saves in relief.

Lenoir-Rhyne Individual Leaders
- Eli Busse went for five goals, four assists, one ground ball and a caused turnover to pace the Bears. In all, 17 different LR players collected at least one goal.
- Owen Peters, Gavin Stabile, Gavin Conlan, Graham Myers and Jack Burdge all split time in net for Lenoir-Rhyne.

- Emory & Henry is back at home on Saturday, April 11 when the Wasps host the Catawba Indians of Catawba College. Faceoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from the Food City Sports Complex.
