Emory & Henry Men’s Lacrosse Falls To No. 8 Anderson (S.C.) Saturday

ANDERSON, S.C. – The No. 8 nationally-ranked Anderson (S.C.) University Men's Lacrosse Team (12-3, 6-3 SAC) put up 23 first-half goals as they earned a 32-4 win over Emory & Henry University (1-12, 0-8 SAC) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Anderson was first on the board with a goal just 43 seconds into the contest, but E&H would respond with the next two scores. Sophomore midfielder David Mewes (Greenville, S.C.) tallied an unassisted goal with 12:40 on the clock and freshman attack Gavin Starling (McKinney, Texas) followed just over two minutes later on a man-up opportunity on an assist from Mewes to push the Wasps in front 2-1. The Trojans would score 22 unanswered goals to take a 23-2 lead into the halftime break.
- Emory & Henry began the second half on the front foot as the Wasps recorded the first two scores of the second half. Freshman attack Jackson Jones (Salem, Va.) found the back of the net unassisted and sophomore defender Kyle Dyott (Easton, Md.) registered his own unassisted goal to cut the deficit to 23-4. That would be the last scores of the game for the Wasps as Anderson reeled off the final nine goals to take the victory by a 32-4 final.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Mewes finished with one goal, one assist, two ground balls and a caused turnover while Dyott added one goal, a team-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Jones collected one goal and a pair of ground balls while freshman defender Brayden Hall (Salem, Va.) had two ground balls and caused a turnover.
- Sophomore goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) made 13 saves in net and picked up three ground balls. Freshman goalie AJ Cakir (McKinney, Texas) recorded eight saves in relief.

Anderson Individual Leaders
- Will Hazelhurst and Ryan Bitterman each posted four goals to lead the Trojans. In all, 17 different Trojans registered at least one goal.
- Bobby Devenport IV, Adin Laughlin, PJ Flynn and Chris Czulada combined for 13 saves in net for the Trojans.

- Emory & Henry wraps up the 2026 campaign on Wednesday, April 22 when they host the Pioneers of Tusculum University. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the Food City Sports Complex.
