How It Happened
- The Wasps began the match on the front foot as they controlled the lion's share of possession and created several scoring opportunities inside the Buccaneers' defensive end. E&H broke through in the 13th minute as freshman forward Jean-Charles Eyidi (Briollay, FRANCE) beat a defender and was taken down inside the 18-yard box to give the Wasps a penalty. Freshman forward Samuel Ulrich Da Silva (Balneario Camboriu, BRAZIL) stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past the ETSU keeper to put Emory & Henry on the board and give the home team a 1-0 advantage. The Wasps continued to press and outshot the visitors from Johnson City by a 4-1 tally as they took the one-goal lead into the halftime break.
- E&H began the second half the same way they ended the first, firing six shots at goal compared to just two for ETSU in the first 15 minutes of the second stanza. The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 65th minute when defender Nicola Brocca was shown a red card for denial of a goal-scoring opportunity. Ulrich Da Silva struck again just over a minute later as he found the back of the net for the second time on the evening to push the Wasps' advantage out to 2-0. Emory & Henry locked down on the defensive end as the Wasps held the Bucs to just five shots, three on goal, to preserve the shutout and the victory.
