How It Happened
- It was a physical, defensive battle from the start that saw just one shot in the opening 17 minutes of play. The Wasps opened up the scoring in the 19th minute when freshman forward Samuel Ulrich (Balneario Camboriu, BRAZIL) passed to freshman defender Milan Ales (Le Cres, FRANCE) who found junior forward Mila Mzamane (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA). Mzamane headed the ball home into the net to push the Wasps in front 1-0. The teams continued to go back-and-forth through the middle of the half and the Lions found the equalizer in the 41st minute. Kyle Williams dished to Mathias Mjaavatn who ripped a shot into the goal to tie things up at 1-1 where it would stand at the halftime break.
- The Wasps began the second half as the aggressors with Ulrich firing three attempts in the first four minutes. E&H continued to create chances, outshooting the visiting Lions by a 9-4 margin over the second stanza, and winning five corner kicks compared to just one for MHU. Neither team could find the elusive winning score however as they had to settle for a share of the points.
