The NCAA's regional rankings are the official means of determining the field of teams for the national postseason. Combined with automatic bids given to conference champions, the Division II Softball Committee uses these rankings to select the eight teams from each region for the playoffs.
As a member of the South Atlantic Conference, Emory & Henry is a member of the Southeast Region along with the Conference Carolinas and Peach Belt Conference (PBC)
E&H is one of six members of the SAC to be noted in the rankings as Carson-Newman University, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Lincoln Memorial Univeristy, Tusculum and Wingate University are also listed. The PBC has three representatives while the Conference Carolinas has one.
