Game One – Emory & Henry 6, Middle Georgia 2
Senior Malorie Reeves (Galax, Va.) received the starting nod in the circle, the Wasps defense began strong getting 3 groundouts to begin the contest. Not to be outdone, E&H's offense responded accordingly Tristyn Tofano (Roanoke, Va.) singled to right center to bring in the game's first run and Emory & Henry led 1-0 after 1. Reeves kept the Knights scoreless in the first 2 frames, but in the top of the 3rd, Middle Georgia pushed a run across to even things up at 1-1.
That lead would be short lived, Hannah Booth (Longwood, Fla.) rocketed a double up the right side to drive in Rachel Hill (Stanardsville, Va.) to retake the lead 2-1. The Wasps weren't done just yet, a few batters later Abigail Street (Glade Spring, Va.) reached on a fielder's choice but it would be enough for Hannah Booth to touch home plate, pushing the lead to 2. Middle Georgia mustered one more run in the top of the 4th but that would be as close as they would get.
The Wasps added another run in the bottom of the 5th off a Sawyer Tolley (Bedford, Va.) RBI single and 2 more in the bottom of the 6th, as Tolley was awarded another RBI after she was hit by a pitch and Tofano singled to left to bring on Rachel Hill making the score 6-2. Emory & Henry and Reeves got the win, Reeves finished the complete game allowing 7 hits, 2 runs overall (1 earned), no walks, and 2 strikeouts.
Game Two – Emory & Henry 0, Young Harris 3
It was a true pitching duel in game 2 of the day against Young Harris. Bailey Payne (Fairview, N.C.) went six innings giving up 7 hits, 3 runs (2 earned) and striking out 4 opposing batters. No runs were scored through the first 5 innings by either side, the Wasps managed to Hannah Booth in scoring position twice but couldn't take advantage. Young Harris pushed across the only runs of the game in the bottom of the 6th off a solo home run and an RBI single followed by an error. The Wasps managed to get a couple baserunners in the final stanza but the offense would stall leading to the 3-0 win for Young Harris.
