Game One – Emory & Henry 1, Tusculum 3

The Wasps struck first to begin Game 1. E&H had bases loaded after the first 3 batters made it on base. Tristyn Tofano (Roanoke, Va.) put the ball in play and brought Rachel Hill (Stanardsville, Va.) from 3rd to score the first run of the ball game. Both defenses settled in and the score remained at 1-0 until the middle innings. Tusculum got on the board in the bottom of the 4th with a single up the middle. One batter later, Andrea Davis came around to score from a throwing error to give the Pioneers the lead 2-1.

Tusculum scored again in the bottom of the 5th, Muriel Dillow tripled into right field and scored on another throwing error from the Wasps. In the top of the 6th Kali Cook (Elkin, N.C.) reached scoring position but the offense would stall and that would be as close as E&H would get.

Game Two – Emory& Henry 7, Tusculum 1
In Game 2 the Wasps offense came alive. In the top of the 1st Tofano doubled to right field, which brought in Sawyer Tolley (Bedford, Va.) and Hannah Booth (Longwood, Fla.) for the 2-0 lead. Liberty Johnson (Arvonia, Va.) turned it up a notch, Johnson sent a ball over the center field fence for the 2 run home run. That ties her with teammate Sawyer Tolley for the most in conference with 14 a piece.

E&H struck again in the top of the 3rd. Johnson stayed hot, hitting a double to left center that allowed Tolley to come around and score. Karsen Simpson (Salisbury, N.C.) followed that up with an RBI single of her own that brought in Johnson from second for the 6-0 advantage. The Wasps added one more insurance run in the top of the 5th, with the bases loaded Laila Rodriguez (Virginia Beach, Va.) drew a walk to score Cook. Tusculum would muster one run in the bottom of the 5th and the Wasps would finish the 3 up and 3 down to win 7-1.
