EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team under the direction of Head Coach Jaclyn Dickens '99 is excited to release its schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season. This year, the Wasps will play 14 of their 25 games at Bob Johnson Court.
Fans will get their annual first look at Emory & Henry at the seventh annual Buzzmania celebration on Friday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. The event, co-hosted by the E&H Men's & Women's Basketball Teams, will take place at the John Rutledge King Center.
Emory & Henry will open the season on Friday, November 8 when it visits Averett University for a 6:00 p.m. contest. Four of the next five games for the Wasps are in Emory with the home opener coming against Maryville (Tenn.) College on Tuesday, November 11 (7:00 p.m.).
E&H will host the Comfort Suites Classic on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 with Randolph-Macon College, Oglethorpe University and Pfeiffer University participating. The Wasps take on the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on Friday and the Pfieffer Falcons on Saturday. Both games will tip at 6:00 p.m.
After a visit to Piedmont College on Thursday, November 21, Emory & Henry returns home to play the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, November 23. The Wasps welcome Greensboro College for a 4:30 p.m. showdown.
Emory & Henry opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Sunday, December 1 at Washington and Lee University and will host Ferrum College (Wed., Dec. 4; 7:00 p.m.) and Southern Virginia University (Tue., Dec. 10; 7:00 p.m.) prior to the start of Christmas Break.
When the Wasps return to the court in January, they will jump straight into the heart of the ODAC regular season. A span of five home games in 21 days provides an opportunity for Emory & Henry fans to support their team and a chance to earn valuable league wins in front of a supportive crowd.
January's home games include: Virginia Wesleyan University (Thu., Jan. 2), Shenandoah University (Sat., Jan. 4), Randolph College (Sat., Jan. 11), Eastern Mennonite University (Sat., Jan. 18) and Guilford College (Wed., Jan. 22). The dates against SU and EMU will be doubleheaders with the E&H men.
On Saturday, February 1, the Wasps host Randolph-Macon College in a league showdown at 2:00 p.m. The game will serve as E&H's annual Alumni Day and all former players are invited to be back on campus for a time of fun, fellowship and top-tier ODAC basketball.
The final two home games for Emory & Henry are against Roanoke College (Wed., Feb. 12) and Bridgewater College (Sat., Feb. 22). The contest with the Eagles will be the second game in a doubleheader and serve as Senior Day.
The 2020 ODAC Tournament will begin on Monday, February 24 with first round games taking place at the seventh and eighth seeds. The quarterfinals will be held on Thursday, February 27 while the semifinals and championship with be on Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, March 1, respectively at the Salem Civic Center.
