RADFORD, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team got the 2025-26 season started on Saturday afternoon with an exhibition contest against Division I opponent Radford University (1-0). The Highlanders claimed the victory by a 69-36 margin.

How It Happened
- Both teams struggled to score in the early stages of the game, and the Highlanders held on to a narrow 10-4 lead at the first media timeout. Radford led 13-6 until sophomore guard Tori West (Richmond, Va.) was good from three-point range to trim the deficit to just four. RU would add another bucket to take a 15-9 advantage into the second quarter.
- In the second, the Highlanders extended their lead to 12 at 26-14 with 1:39 on the clock but Emory & Henry answered with another three-point bucket, this time from freshman center Hannah Miller (Greeneville, Tenn.) to bring the Wasps back within single digits. Radford would add four more points to take the 30-17 margin into the halftime break.
- A 9-4 run over the first four minutes and change out of the locker room saw the Highlanders push the lead out to 18 points. The Radford lead would reach as many as 19, but a layup from junior forward Paige Niethammer (Parrottsville, Tenn.) made it 47-30 at the end of three quarters.
- Radford opened things up to begin the fourth, scoring the first nine points of the frame to balloon their advantage out to 26 points. The Highlanders controlled the final stanza as they outscored the Wasps 22-4 en route to the 69-36 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore guard Lyndie Ramsey (Elizabethton, Tenn.) led E&H with nine points and four rebounds. Junior forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) added six points, five rebounds and three assists.
- Miller finished with five points, one board and an assist off of the bench while Niethammer contributed four points and five rebounds.
- Graduate student forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) had two points, a team-high 10 rebounds, three blocks, one assist and a steal.
Radford Individual Leaders
- Anaiah Jenkins led all scorers with 11 points, seven rebounds and a pair of helpers. Ellie Taylor posted 10 points, four assists, three rebounds, one steal and a blocked shot.
- Angelina Nice had 10 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block off of the bench for the Highlanders.
Up Next
- Emory & Henry will officially open the season on Friday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. when it travels to take on Southern Wesleyan University. The contest will be part of the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge.
