EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team (7-20, 5-16 SAC) avenged a loss from earlier in the season, defeating Tusculum University (2-25, 2-19 SAC) inside the John Rutledge King Center Wednesday evening. The Wasps outscored the Pioneers in all four quarters as they rolled to the 68-50 victory.

How It Happened
- The two teams went back-and-forth to begin the game and a putback from junior forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) gave the Wasps a 10-7 lead at the 5:40 mark. A jumper by junior guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) gave E&H a narrow 16-14 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
- Emory & Henry pushed the margin out to 25-18 in the opening two and a half minutes of the second stanza on the back of a layup by freshman forward Hali Harris (Richmond, Va.). The squads struggled to score through the latter stages of the second and the Wasps held a 29-23 lead heading into halftime.
- The Wasps held serve through the opening part of the third quarter and maintained a six-point lead at 35-29 with 6:43 to play in the frame. Emory & Henry saw its lead reach nine at 44-35 with 48 seconds left in the stanza, but a jumper from Tusculum just before the end of the quarter reduced the deficit to 44-37 through three quarters of play.
- Emory & Henry's lead was seven at 49-42 just under three minutes into the fourth, but the Wasps ripped off a quick 6-1 spurt to see their advantage reach double digits for the first time in the contest at 55-43. The Wasps would keep the Pioneers at arm's length throughout the remainder of the game as they won going away by the 68-50 scoreline.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Graduate student forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) led the way for the Wasps as she recorded a double-double of 20 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, two steals, one assist and a blocked shot. Her 20 points gives her 1384 for her career, just 16 shy of second-most all-time in program history. Hall finished just shy of her own double-double with 17 points, nine boards, one helper and a steal.
- Rhyan Harris went for eight points, 13 rebounds, one assist and a steal while Hali Harris had 12 points, three rebounds and a trio of assists.
Tusculum Individual Leaders
- Abbi Douglas posted a team-high 13 points, four rebounds, one steal and a blocked shot while Julia Szwichtenberg had 10 points, seven rebounds and a block off of the bench.
- Josie Horner collected nine points and three boards while Martina Garofalo registered eight points, four rebounds and three steals.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 36.6% (26-for-71) overall from the floor and just 18.2% (6-for-33) from three-point range. The Wasps converted 90.9% (10-for-11) of their attempts at the free throw line.
- Tusculum went 19-for-59 (32.2%) for the contest and went just 1-for-11 (9.1%) from deep. The Pioneers struggled at the charity stripe, making just 61.1% (11-for-18) of their shots.
- Emory & Henry held a massive 55-32 advantage on the glass, including a 22-10 advantage on the offensive boards, and turned those extra opportunities into 19 second chance points compared to just five for the Pioneers.
- E&H assisted on 14 of their 26 field goals while Tusculum registered just three assists.
- TU forced 17 E&H turnovers that they converted into 15 points, while the Wasps made the Pioneers cough up the ball on 13 occasions for 10 points.
- The two teams were dead even with 32 points each in the paint.
