EMORY, Va. – The No. 23 nationally-ranked and South Atlantic Conference-leading Wingate University (25-2, 17-1 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry University (5-22, 2-15 SAC) in conference play Friday evening. The Bulldogs earned the win by scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-11.

How It Happened
- The home team wasted no time as they ran out to an early 10-3 lead in the first set. The Wasps managed to close the gap to five at 10-5, but that was as close as they would get as the Bulldogs rolled to the 25-11 opening-set win.
- The second set was tightly-contested in the early stages and the score was knotted at 10-10. Wingate responded by winning 11 of the next 13 scoring opportunities to give themselves some separation at 21-12. The Bulldogs finished out the set by a 25-14 scoreline.
- The Bulldogs took control early in the third frame as they established a 15-7 lead at the midpoint. Wingate did not look back as they won 10 of the final 14 points to take the set and the match by the 25-11 final.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman middle Abigail Leo (Charlotte, N.C.) led the Wasps with four kills and a block while freshman outside hitter Tori Boling (Tega Cay, S.C.) added four kills, one dig and an assist. Freshman outside hitter Taylor Kelly (Hickory, N.C.) chipped in with three kills and six digs.
- Senior libero Grace Nelson (Murphy, N.C.) had a team-high eight digs while freshman setter Zoie Pace (Collinsville, Va.) posted a team-high eight assists, six digs and a pair of kills.
Wingate Individual Leaders
- Sydney Morland led all players with a match-high 11 kills while Taylor Robertson had 10 digs, six kills, four service aces and a pair of assists.
- Katie Jamerson had a double-double with a match-high 18 assists, 11 digs, four service aces and three kills. Maya Van Heyst recorded 16 assists, five kills, two digs and a block in the win.
