Carson-Newman Volleyball Tops Emory & Henry, 3-0, Tuesday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Volleyball Team (3-19, 0-13 SAC) dropped a South Atlantic Conference match to Carson-Newman University (18-3, 9-3 SAC) inside the John Rutledge King Center Tuesday evening. The Eagles took the win by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-11.

How It Happened
- Carson-Newman was the first to 15 in the opening set as the visiting Eagles established a 15-9 advantage. C-N pushed the margin out to eight at 23-15, but the Wasps responded with four straight points to draw back within four. Carson-Newman sealed the opening-set victory with a pair of points to take the frame 25-19.
- The second stanza was a back-and-forth affair early on that saw the squads level at 6-6. The Eagles were the first team to reach 15 points once more as they took nine of the next 12 to push their advantage out to 15-9 for the second straight set. E&H would not go quietly as the Wasps rallied to close the deficit to just one at 21-20. The Eagles locked down in the latter stages, winning four of the final five points to win the set 25-21.
- Carson-Newman controlled things throughout the third set, running out to a double-digit lead at 18-8. The Eagles reached match point at 24-11 and an Emmaline Morris kill clinched the win by a 25-11 scoreline. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore outside hitter Tori Boling (Tega Cay, S.C. led the charge for the Wasps with nine kills, three digs, two assists, one service ace and a block. Junior outside hitter Grace Duey (Tega Cay, S.C.) added seven kills, four digs and a block while junior middle Haley Harnichar (Sevierville, Tenn.) contributed five kills, three blocks and a dig.
- Sophomore setter Zoie Pace (Collinsville, Va.) posted a double-double with a team-high 13 assists and 10 digs. 

Carson-Newman Individual Leaders
- Emerson Ahsmuhs went for a match-high 13 kills, 11 digs, three assists and a block while Maddie Hurst recorded 12 kills, three digs and a block.
- Blair Cherry dished out a match-high 38 assists and had 10 digs, four kills and a service ace. Trinity Hafey registered 13 digs, three assists and a pair of service aces in the win for the Eagles.

- Emory & Henry is back in action on Friday, October 31 when the Wasps host Mars Hill University for Halloween Havoc. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the John Rutledge King Center.
