BRISTOL, TENN. – Emory & Henry Women's Wrestling competed at the Tornado Open Sunday afternoon, coming away with several top 5 finishes.

The Open

124 Pounds

- Junior Madison Wilson (Henrico, Va.) received a bye in the first round. In her first contest Wilson would be pinned by Tonya Flournory in the 1st Period. On the consolation side Wilson was pinned by teammate Natalia Langer in the waning seconds of the 1st Period. 

- Junior Natalia Langer (Powhatan, Va.) fell in her first bout to Montreat's Daniela Espinal by pinfall. Langer tore through the consolation bracket, picking up wins over teammate Madison Wilson and two technical superiority victories against Danielle Burkhardt 10-0 and the rematch against Daniela Espinal 14-4. In the 3rd place bout, Langer met her match, being pinned in the 1st Period by Tonya Flournory securing her a 4th place finish. 

131 Pounds

- Freshman Kailyn Pond (Disputanta, Va.) fell in both of her matches by pinfall, first to Lexi Dean and then to LilyAnn Blair.

- Junior Mak Robinson (Spotsylvania, Va.) received a bye in the first round. Robinson defeated Summer McKeen from Newberry by technical superiority 10-0. Robinson would fall in the semifinal round to Mount Olive's Bella Murillo by technical superiority 11-0. On the consolation side, Robinson would be pinned by LilyAnn Blair halfway through the 2nd Period, ending her day. 

- Freshman Tana Loving (Fredericksburg, Va.) also received a bye in the first round. In Loving's first bout she would be pinned by Montreat's Anna Skoda in the 2nd Period. In round 3 of the consolation bracket Loving fell by pin to LilyAnn Blair in the final minute of action in the 2nd Period. 

138 Pounds

- Freshman Kendi Dye (Richlands, Va.) received a bye in the first round. In the quarter finals Dye was pinned by Montreat's Isabella Campbell with just under 10 seconds left in the bout. On the consolation side, Dye was defeated by Mackenzie Shaver by technical superiority 11-0. 

145 Pounds

- Junior Molly Keller's (Fairlawn, Va.) first bout went the distance where she would lose by a 10-8 decision to Vivienne Gitke. Keller would bounce back against King's Kristyn Harr, winning by technical superiority 12-0. Keller's day would come to an end after she was pinned by Delaware State's Louise Juitt. 

160 Pounds

- Sophomore Rihana Carson (Roanoke, Va.) received a bye in the first round. Carson would be pinned in her first contest by Mount Olive's Elaina Pollock. Carson gutted her way to the 3rd place match picking up a pinfall win over Montreat's Nicole Lewis and a 6-6 decision which saw her score the last points she needed in the final 12 seconds to seal victory. iIn the 3rd place match Carson would be defeated by Elaina Pollock again, this time by technical superiority, earning her 4th place on the day. 

207 Pounds

- 5th Year Emma Lozada (Princeton, Tx.) cruised to the Championship match with pins against Mount Olive's Andrea Smith and Delaware State's Christina Lisboa. In the Championship Bout battles but could not overcome Mount Olive's Sophia Marshall, Lozada would lose by technical superiority claiming 2nd place in her weight class. 

- Freshman Allison Gabarrete (Jeffersonton. Va.) would be pinned in her first bout by eventual champion Sophia Marshall. Gabarrete went on a tear through the consolation bracket with a pinfall victory over Montreat's Daniella Jenkins and technical superiority over Delaware State's Christina Lisboa. Gabarrete claimed 3rd place with a forfeit victory over Mount Olive's Zaria Robinson.  

Up Next

The Wasps return to their home mats this Tuesday January 20th to take on Bluefield State inside the Martin-Brock Student Center, the dual is set to begin at 5PM.
