COLUMBIA, KY. – The Emory & Henry Women's Wrestling Team competed in the Lindsey Wilson Open, highlighted by 1st and 3rd place finishes by Molly Keller and Emma Lozada respectively.

The Open
124 Pounds
- Junior Natalia Langer (Powhatan, Va.) was pinned in both of her opening matches, first by Lindenwood's Saral O'day and then in the consolation bracket by Addison Messerly from Campbellsville.
- Junior Madison Wilson (Henrico, Va.) received a bye in the first round. In her first bout, Wilson would be pinned by Lindenwood's Allison Meyer halfway through the first period. On the consolation side, Addison Messerly ended Wilson's day, pinning her in the first period.
131 Pounds
- Junior Mak Robinson (Spotsylvania, Va.) lost her first contest to Emmanuel's Isabella Hoffman by pin in the first period. In the consolation bracket, it was teammate against teammate as Robinson went up against Tana Loving. Robinson came out on top with the technical superiority 10-0. Mak kept rolling with another technical superiority over Sara Crosslin from Lindsey Wilson. Robinson met her match in the next round, being pinned by Lincoln Memorial's Alyssa Roberts.
- Freshman Tana Loving (Fredericksburg, Va.) received a bye in the first round. Loving fell by technical superiority 11-0 to Evelyn Holmes-Smith in her first bout. Loving's open would come to an end against teammate Mak Robinson in the consolation bracket.
145 Pounds
- Junior Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) came to the open on a mission. Keller sailed through the first two rounds, picking up wins over Lindenwood's Madeline Haynes by pinfall and getting revenge on Lincoln Memorial's Shonticia Taft with a technical superiority 12-1. In her next bout Keller, faced off against the #7 ranked wrestler at 145 in NAIA, Gabriella Perez. The match was dead even through the first period tied at 2 points a piece. Perez was awarded the first points of the second period, Molly responded with 5 quick points of her own to gain a 7-5 advantage that she would ride through the rest of the period. Keller would come out on top over #7 Perez in a 9-6 decision, securing her spot in the championship match. The score of the 1st place match stood at 4-4 at the end of the first period. Just over 1 minute into the second period, Keller would pin Emmanuel's Alexandra Ford to win 1st place in her weight class.
207 Pounds
- 5th Year Emma Lozada (Princeton, Tx.) began her day with a technical superiority victory 10-0 over Ava Haan, followed by a pinfall victory over Lindsey Wilson's Faith Allen. In her next bout Lozada would be pinned by the eventual champion Emmanuel's Gemma Templeman. In her first bout on the consolation side Lozada would face her teammate Alliosn Gabarrete. Emma would pin Gabarrete with :30 seconds remaining in the first period to get a chance at revenge in the 3rd palace match against Faith Allen. Lozada broke through halfway through the first period scoring the first points of the contest. The match would end a few moments later with Lozada getting the pinfall victory over Allen to win 3rd place in her weight class.
- Freshman Allison Gabarrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) won her first bout of the day with a pin over Georgetown College's Jasmin Beckham. In the next round Gabarrete would be pinned by Lindsey Wilson's Taylor Schlesser. Allison would win her first contest on the consolation side, pinning Ember Marriott in the final minute of the first round, before falling to teammate Emma Lozada in the consolation semifinals.
Up Next
The Wasps will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday February 10th with a tri-match at Newberry, South Carolina against Mount Olive and Newberry. The match is set to begin at 5PM.
