Emory & Henry Men’s Indoor Track & Field Kicks Off Season At Get Your Marks Meet

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Track & Field Teams got their indoor season started on Saturday at the Get Your Marks Meet at JDL Fast Track. The Wasps put in a standout performance that saw several event wins and records fall. The men set one new program standard, while the women's team established three new program bests.

Top Men's Performances
- Junior Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) was victorious in the 60 meters as he ran a time of 6.93. Junior Joshua Black (Woodbridge, Va.) posted a time of 7.22 to finish sixth, while senior Willie Williams (Manassas, Va.) was 12th with a 7.29.
- Humphrey put in another solid performance in the 200 meters, setting a program record of 22.21 to take second place. Junior Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) was fifth with his time of 22.27, while Black registered an eighth-place finish in 22.59.
- Senior T.J. Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was ninth in the 400 meters, running a time of 52.43. Christopher Smalls (Dumfries, Va.) finished 14th in 54.09.
- Junior Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) took home fourth in the high jump as he put down a height of 1.80 meters.
- Junior Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) finished sixth in the long jump with a distance of 6.41 meters, while Branch, III was eighth with his distance of 6.35 meters.
- Freshman Aiden Moore (Radford, Va.) took home medalist honors in the shot put in his first collegiate competition, recording a toss of 13.34 meters. Freshman Phillip Radford (Riner, Va.) took home fourth with his throw of 12.14 meters and freshman Brock Ayers (Austinville, Va.) was sixth with an 11.79 meters.
- Craft was second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.96 meters, while freshman TaiShaun Cooks (Forest, Va.) was hot on his heels in third with a distance of 13.41 meters. Ihlenburg posted an eighth-place finish with 12.62 meters.
- Senior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) picked up yet another win in his illustrious career in the weight throw, recording a distance of 17.19 meters. Ayers was third with a 13.23 meters and Radford finished fourth with a distance of 13.16 meters. 

Women's Top Performances
- Sophomore Aiyana Blakey (Woodbridge, Va.) broke her own program record to finish seventh in the 60 meters, running a time of 8.17. Senior Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) ran an 8.77 to finish 12th.
- Ricketts was fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a 10.69, while sophomore Abby Harris (Powell, Tenn.) was right behind her in sixth with her time of 10.73.
- Blakey posted a 27.43 in the 200 meters to take home 11th. Sophomore Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) was 15th in 28.95, while Ricketts finished 17th in 29.33.
- Harris was 13th in the 400 meters, stopping the clock in 1:11.55.
- Spangler broke her own program record in the long jump with a 5.22 meter leap to finish in fourth. Harris's distance of 4.35 meters was good enough for eight, while junior Adrianna Hall (Salem, Va.) finished 10th with a 4.13 meter jump.
- Freshman Chloe Spence (Riner, Va.) posted a throw of 8.87 meters for a 10th-place finish and senior Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) was 11th with an 8.20 meter distance.
- Spangler shattered yet another of her own program records in the triple jump, leaping 10.84 meters to finish second.
- Spence's 10.54 weight throw distance was ninth and Leonard recorded a throw of 9.07 meters to finish 10th.
