Lincoln Memorial Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Emory & Henry, 14-4, Wednesday Evening

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Lacrosse Team (3-6, 0-3 SAC) dropped a South Atlantic Conference road matchup with Lincoln Memorial University (6-4, 2-1 SAC) Wednesday evening. The Lady Railsplitters established an 8-3 halftime lead and pulled away for the 14-4 win.

How It Happened
- LMU put the first goal on the board, but the Wasps bounced back with a goal of their own at the 12:26 mark when sophomore midfielder Whitney Holland (Rocky Mount, Va.) converted on a free-position shot to tie the game at 1-1. Lincoln Memorial would score the next two goals until the Wasps struck again as sophomore Ella Bramer (West Amherst, N.Y.) found graduate student Mary Martinez (Estado de Mexico, MEXICO) who beat the LMU goalie to bring E&H back within one at 3-2. LMU tallied the final goal of the first to lead 4-2.
- The home team put up four unanswered goals to start the second quarter and push their advantage out to 8-2. Emory & Henry got a goal back with just 17 seconds remaining in the half as senior midfielder Justyce Jones (Jacksonville, N.C.) capitalized on another free-position opportunity to send the game to the halftime break at 8-3.
- Jones began the third the same way that she ended the second, converting her second free-position shot of the game to cut the deficit to four at 8-4. The third was a low-scoring affair that saw just one more goal as LMU scored at the 7:49 mark for a 9-4 lead heading into the fourth.
- It was all Lincoln Memorial in the final period as they registered five unanswered goals to take the SAC win by a 14-4 final.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Jones finished with two goals, one ground ball, three draw controls and a caused turnover. Martinez registered one goal, one ground ball and a caused turnover while Holland had one goal, three ground balls and forced a pair of turnovers.
- Junior defender Megan D'Amore (Mooresville, N.C.) collected a team-high five ground balls, four draw controls and forced a team-high five turnovers to lead the Wasps' defensive effort. Bramer contributed one assist, three ground balls, one draw control and a caused turnover.
- Freshman goalie Madison Weaver (Forest, Va.) made four saves in goal while fellow freshman Ella James (Roanoke, Va.) had a pair of stops in relief.

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Josie Tinnerello led LMU with a game-high four goals, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Briana Martinez, Ryan Smith and Jessie McKilligan all registered a pair of goals each.
- Jovie Favati had three saves in goal while Emily Mirabile added a whopping nine saves for the Lady Railsplitters in the second half.

- The Wasps are back at home on Saturday, March 21 when they host the Wolves of Newberry College. First draw is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. from the Food City Sports Complex.
