EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Volleyball Team (3-23, 0-16 SAC) was defeated in South Atlantic Conference play by visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University (19-5, 13-3 SAC) Friday evening. The Bears took the victory by set scores of 25-14, 25-22 and 25-16.

How It Happened
- E&H took an early 6-3 lead in the first set, but the Bears answered back with five straight points to jump ahead. Lenoir-Rhyne gave themselves some breathing room through the middle of the stages, pushing their advantage out to 18-13 heading into the deciding points of the frame. LR finished off the set with a 7-1 run to take the opener 25-14.
- The Wasps were hot to start the second frame as they ran out to an early 7-3 margin. Emory & Henry was first to 15 points, as a kill from sophomore outside hitter Tori Boling (Tega Cay, S.C.) gave them a three-point advantage midway through the set. The Bears once again rallied with a 10-1 run to take a 22-17 lead. E&H managed to close the gap to just two points at 23-21, but the visitors from Hickory closed out the stanza with two of the final three points for the narrow 25-22 win.
- Lenoir-Rhyne flipped the script in the third set as they were the aggressors, taking an early 10-3 lead. The Bears held steady through the middle of the set and increased their margin out to 19-10. LR reached set point at 24-13 and held off a mini 3-0 spurt by the Wasps to clinch the set and the match 25-16.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior middle Haley Harnichar (Sevierville, Tenn.) led the Wasps with six kills and a pair of blocks while junior outside hitter Grace Duey (Tega Cay, S.C.) added six kills, four digs and a block. Senior outside hitter Julissa Hopgood (Lutz, Fla.) finished with five kills, two digs, one block, one assist and a service ace.
- Freshman setter Sydni Davis (Cornelius, N.C.) collected a team-high 14 assists, two digs and a service ace while sophomore setter Zoie Pace (Collinsville, Va.) recorded 13 assists, four digs, one service ace and a kill.
Lenoir-Rhyne Individual Leaders
- Addison Vary led all players with nine kills, four service aces and three digs. Kayli Cleaver had eight kills and a block while Emmaleigh Allen went for eight kills, six digs and a pair of assists.
- Alicia Barbarito had a match-high 19 assists, two service aces and a pair of digs. Sydney Karjala registered 13 assists and nine digs while Hadley Prince had a match-high 11 digs and four assists.
