FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Matthew McInaw has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time in over eight years that a Wasp pitcher has received weekly league honors.
Last season, catcher Collin Metz was named ODAC Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season.
The freshman from Honey Brook, Pa., earned the win in game two against Eastern Mennonite University Saturday, as he pitched seven scoreless innings allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out four. The Wasps went on to defeat the Royals, 10-0, for their second shutout in seven days.
McInaw is currently 2-0 on the year in four appearances with a save and a 1.12 ERA. He has allowed just two earned runs in 16 innings pitched and has struck out 10 batters compared to just three walks.
Emory & Henry is scheduled to face Ferrum College at home on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
