Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball To Host Washington and Lee In 2012 ODAC Tournament

FOREST, Va. – By virtue of finishing tied for seventh in regular season play of the 2011-12 Old Dominion Athletic Conference, the Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball team has earned the eighth seed for the 2012 ODAC Tournament. Eastern Mennonite University tied with E&H for seventh, earning the tiebreaker with wins over Guilford and Lynchburg.

The Wasps will face the ninth-seeded Generals of Washington and Lee University on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m., at Bob Johnson Court.

In the regular season meeting between E&H and W&L, the Generals prevailed 67-46 over the Wasps at the Warner Center in Lexington.

Washington and Lee's Clay McLean led all scorers with 15 points while Larry Whitaker had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. J.D. Ey registered 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the game.

Emory & Henry sophomore forward Charles Smith (Fayetteville, N.C.) registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Junior guard Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) had nine points and five rebounds while junior guard Kyle Sensabaugh (Columbus, Ohio) had six points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Generals shots 43.5 percent (27-for-62) as a team compared to just 32.2 percent (19-for-59) for the Wasps. Emory & Henry was only 5-for-14 (35.7 percent) from the free throw line in the contest while W&L made eight of its nine attempts (88.9 percent).

The winner of Tuesday's first round contest will advance to the league quarterfinals; to be played on Friday at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va. Virginia Wesleyan College awaits the victor in the round of eight with a 6:00 p.m. scheduled start time.

According to ODAC postseason policy, admission to Tuesday's game is $5.00 for adults. College students and children will be admitted to the game free with a valid College ID.
