Emory & Henry Women’s Swimming Competes In  A Pair Of Meets Over The Weekend

EMORY, Va./GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team competed in two meets over the past weekend. The Wasps played host to Hollins University on Saturday afternoon before traveling to Greensboro, N.C., Sunday to face Greensboro College and Guilford College.

On Saturday, Hollins defeated E&H by a 122-65 score. Emory & Henry won five of the 10 events but was unable to counter the deeper Hollins squad.

The Wasps had strong performances from sophomore Jessi Biggs (Vienna, Va.) and freshman Kaitlyn McNabney (Morristown, Tenn.) as they each won two individual events. Biggs won the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter breaststroke while McNabney picked up victories in the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-meter backstroke. Junior Rachel Kroggel (Cookeville, Tenn.) won the 400-meter freestyle as well for the Wasps.

Sunday afternoon, the Wasps fell in both dual competitions to the Pride and Quakers, with Guilford avenging an early season loss to E&H. Greensboro won by a 48-28 score while Guilford prevailed, 44-39,  over Emory & Henry.

Emory & Henry picked up three event wins in the meet. Biggs won the 50-yard freestyle while McNabney finished first in the 100-yard individual medley. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Biggs, sophomore Jean Jamison (Knoxville, Tenn.), junior Masha Campbell (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and McNabney also picked up a victory in the meet.

Emory & Henry will travel to Roanoke, Va. on Saturday to take on Hollins University and Notre Dame University of Maryland in a double-dual meet format.
