Emory & Henry Men’s Indoor Track & Field Sees Three Records Fall On Day One Of SAC Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Indoor Track & Field Team opened postseason play on day one of the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships Saturday. The men's team broke three program records and sits in ninth place after day one.

Top Men's Performances

Track
- Junior Joshua Black (Woodbridge, Va.) finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 8.71.
- Junior Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) set a new program record in the 400 meter prelims with his time of 50.43 to finish in 20th.
- Sophomore Hayden Pugh (Louisa, Va.) was 14th in the 800 meter prelims with a 1:56.91, while junior Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) finished 17th with a 1:59.01 and senior Cody Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was 20th in 2:00.10
- Senior Miles Baldwin (Floyd, Va.) put down a new program standard in the mile prelims as he finished in 4:24.56, good enough for 12th. Senior Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) was 15th in 4:28.68, while junior Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) finished in 17th with a 4:30.67.
- Junior Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) placed 24th in the 5000 meters with a 15:48.84. Freshman J.T. Moore (Chilhowie, Va.) finished in 26th with a 16:35.35 while senior Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) was 29th in 17:05.37.
- The 4000 meter distance medley relay team of Pugh, Branch, Pecina and Tindall took sixth with a time of 10:43.07.

Field
- Junior Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) was 18th in the long jump with a leap of 6.55 meters. Branch was right behind him in 19th with a 6.51 meter distance and freshman TaiShaun Cooks (Forest, Va.) placed 21st with a 6.37 meter distance. Junior Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) finished 28th with a 6.05 meter jump.
- Senior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) finished on the medalist stand once again, as he took third in the weight throw with a toss of 18.28 meters, breaking his own program record. Sophomore Malik Guadelupe (Woodbridge, Va.) was 12th with a throw of 14.94 meters. Freshman Brock Ayers (Austinville, Va.) finished 18th with a 13.35 while fellow freshman Phillip Radford (Riner, Va.) was 20th with a distance of 12.93 meters.
