EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Outdoor Track & Field Team sits in third place following day one of the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Wasps earned three podium finishes over the five scored events.

Top Performances

Track
- Junior Joshua Black (Woodbridge, Va.) finished 18th in the 100 meter prelims with a time of 10.68.
- Black then placed 15th in the 200 meter prelims, finishing in 21.86.
- Senior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) was 20th in the 400 meter prelims in 50.34, while junior T.J. Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) finished 28th in 51.40.
- Sophomore Hayden Pugh (Louisa, Va.) paced the Wasps in the 800 meter prelims, stopping the clock in 1:57.31 for a 12th-place finish. Cody Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was 18th in 2:00.92, senior Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) was 19th in 2:01.53 and junior Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) was 20th in 2:02.21.
- Senior Miles Baldwin (Floyd, Va.) was 14th in the 1500 meter prelims with his time of 4:05.18.
- Junior Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) took 12th in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 10:16.95, while freshman J.T. Moore (Chilhowie, Va.) was 17th in 10:58.75.
- Junior Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) placed 13th in the 10,000 meters, finishing in 34:02.18, while senior Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) was 18th in 35:53.47.

Field
- Senior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) added another trophy to his career collection as he was the medalist in the discus throw with a toss of 48.68 meters. Freshman Phillip Radford (Riner, Va.) finished 15th with a throw of 40.04 meters, while fellow freshman Brock Ayers (Austinville, Va.) was 22nd (34.92 meters) and sophomore Malik Guadelupe (Woodbridge, Va.) was 23rd with a distance of 34.82 meters.
- Lee continued his outstanding day as he won the hammer throw for the third time in his career, the second year in a row, recording a distance of 58.05 meters. Guadelupe finished on the podium along with Lee as he posted a throw of 54.01 meters to take second place. Radford placed 13th with a 42.90 meter throw.
- Freshman TaiShaun Cooks (Forest, Va.) finished 20th in the long jump, posting a leap of 6.35 meters. Junior Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) was 24th with a distance of 6.19 meters.
